038 — The Butterfly Reliquary
The Butterfly Reliquary is a miniature vintage trinket box restored and transformed by hand.
The box originally had a deteriorated embroidered or fabric-covered top that could no longer be preserved. After the damaged material was removed, the lid was painted gold and finished with a butterfly image beneath a clear protective coating. The original floral enamel-style decoration remains around the sides, and the interior retains its striking cobalt-blue finish.
MEASUREMENTS
- Diameter: approximately 1.5 inches
- Height: approximately 1 inch
Created from an older vintage trinket box with visible age, patina, surface wear, and irregularities. The original deteriorated covering was removed because it was no longer usable, and the lid has been repainted and transformed by hand. Minor scratches, unevenness, oxidation, and signs of previous use remain and are part of the character of the finished Relic.
